On Wednesday June 6th, the Taishan EPR saw its first chain reaction and started production. The power station, located in the south of China, in Guangdong province, is the first reactor of this type to become commercially operational in the world. Outputting 1750MW of power, it is the largest EPR in the world: it can provide the equivalent of the power consumption of 2.5 million Chinese people.

CNIM Industrial Systems China contributed to the project by supplying the spent fuel unloading trolley, a highly complex electromechanical system which was subject to the most demanding nuclear standards.
